Harris Sixth Form visits Bloomberg HQ in London
Students from Harris East Dulwich Sixth Form were recently invited to the Discover Apprenticeships Event at Bloomberg HQ in London.
The event involved a session about recruitment, a panel with current and ex-apprentices, and a workshop on networking and how to 'show up' in the corporate environment.
This gave a great chance for our students to learn about opportunities open to them, the recruitment process, tips and tricks for applying, and an insight into the experience of an apprentice at Bloomberg.
What students said……….
"I got a lot out of the event. My understanding of what an apprenticeship is has developed and it has opened more options for me when I leave sixth form.
"The aesthetics of the building were also very nice and it gives us a great idea of what an organised working environment is really like."
Leon, Year 13, Head Prefect
"Visiting the Bloomberg HQ was an exciting experience as it gave us a much-needed insight into the fintech (finance and technology) career and it also gave us an opportunity to talk to experienced apprentices allowing us to gain more knowledge about the life of a young apprentice working in the centre of the city.
"The tour was also an enjoyable experience as we were able to momentarily view the amazing work space and facilities workers had access to on a daily basis."
Elyeon, Year 13
"The trip was beneficial and a fantastic experience for us as a school because it allowed us to see different avenues that the company offered and allowed us to ask professionals questions.
This opportunity has never been provided to us as a school before, but thanks to Mr. Chan and the Sixth Form team, we were exposed to big corporations in which we can get up and close and see what it takes to become someone successful in the world.
"After our visit, we, as students from different cultural backgrounds seeing the company, with diverse and prosperous people from different cultures, inspired us as a unit to work harder and keep our hopes that we can make a difference in becoming someone important in the world.
It was clear after the visit it's not where you're from but how you apply yourself that steers a person to success."
Murtada, Year 13
