Top Year 7 Spellers Compete In Spelling Bee
Four of HBAED's best Year 7 spellers travelled to Harris Academy Sutton to compete in the annual Harris Federation Spelling Bee last month.
After some final practice on the minibus that morning, our four Year 7 students competed in four rounds in total throughout the morning, all aimed to test their spelling ability. They fought a hard battle, and their spelling abilities were being tested to the limit...
The final round of the day was a knockout round, with one student from each school spelling a word. If they got it right, they went through, if they got it wrong, they were out. Tehmour, our top Year 7 speller, did so well and got to the final three but unfortunately lost his place in the competition and was beaten by the word 'cerebellum'.
Although we were not crowned champions, the Year 7s still had a brilliant day and did a fantastic job representing the academy. Well done everyone!
