"There Is No Way That You Can Stop the School of Rock"

On Wednesday the 29th March and on Thursday 30th March the cast for School of Rock took the stage by storm and rocked endlessly in front of a huge audience, which proved their talent.

Based on the hit film, the students performed the hilarious musical that follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school.

Rock1

There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. While teaching these students what it means to truly rock, Dewey forms a friendship with the school’s uptight headmaster, helping him rediscover the wild child within. The cast for the school of rock have been rehearsing tirelessly since September, week after week, resulting in an outstanding performance.

The audience were blown away by the talent

  • "Very talented students indeed but also well done to the Performing Arts Department for giving the students the tools to develop their talents."
  • "What an absolutely brilliant evening. The performers were all great - both cast and band - and it was a pleasure to see so many other pupils backstage and doing the lighting and even in the audience supporting their friends."
  • "The School of Rock production has raised the bar and I cannot wait to see what the Performing Arts team have up their sleeve for next year - how can this show be toped?"

And the cast loved it too!

The students are sad to see the show come to an end and a few of the cast wanted to share a few last thoughts and thanks:

Rock3Xulian, Year 11 - The Band: "It was an unforgettable experience which Ms Bee allowed me to be part of. It also helped to develop my musicianship skills and playing with other musicians. I am grateful to Ms Bee for this opportunity."

Lorenzo, Year 11 - Actor: "I wanted to join the school production because I have always enjoyed performing and this was a great opportunity and experience to work with my peers to create an unforgettable show for friends and family. School of Rock was also a way for me to begin to pursue a career in the performing arts as this helped me to develop my skills."

Seydo, Year 7 - Actor: “Great hustle guys. Well done to everyone one, we worked so hard and it wouldn’t have happened without Mrs Bee and Mrs Okai."

Elshaddi, Year 8 - Actor: "The production was very enjoyable and allowed me to express myself and a great opportunity to share my talent of singing and acting with my friends and family."

Stanley and David - Year 10 - Actors: "Great opportunity to interact with students I do not normally socialise with. We were able to really sharpen our acting skills."

Pietro, Year 7 - Actor: "I have gained more confidence and great experience of performing in front of a large audience."

Rock4

Samuel , Year 9 - Backstage: "It was an amazing experience to work behind the scenes, our role was super important to the flow of the performance. I have a new respect for actors as the final performance is only a small area of what it takes to actually put the script on its feet."

Dilhan, Year 11 - The Band: "This is an experience that I will never ever forget. Performing in front of such a large audience on two nights was mind blowing. I had an awesome time."

Rock6

Huge thank you to Mrs Bee and Mrs Okai for committing to the students and the process that resulted in a 'rock' solid performance.
