Football - HBAED 3 Peckham Academy 0
The Year 7 football team brushed Peckham Academy aside on Thursday afternoon securing a very comfortable 3 – 0 victory. The young team took only a few minutes to settle into the new nine-a-side format of the U12 competition and then went onto impose themselves on their Harris counterparts.
Jesse (pictured), making his debut at right wing, was a constant threat and gave the left back a torrid time. After receiving the ball wide, Jesse beat two players and cut in before lofting the ball over the keeper from 20 yards, a delightful goal.
On the left wing we had Dario, differing from Jesse by offering strength on the ball he would entice two or three players into the tackle, dragging the Peckham defenders from their positions before trying to assist Sam at the pinnacle of our attack. Dario was rewarded for all his hard work when Jesse got to the byline and cut the ball back to meet Dario who had drifted into the box to tap home from six yards.
In the second half Sam won a free kick when he was chopped down after beating the last man. The cultured centre back, Idris, spotted the ball and then whipped a spectacular 25 yard free kick into the top left stanchion to kill the game off.
Terron and Abdul dominated the midfield throughout and Sam was unlucky not to add a goal to cap an excellent attacking display.
Please congratulate the students who represented the Academy. They are now through to next round of the Harris Federation U12 Cup.
