New Sustainable Cooking Club is a Hit with Students
A new Sustainable Cooking Club has launched at Harris Boys' with great success. The new club is designed to teach students about sustainable cooking practices and how to prepare healthy, delicious meals that are good for the planet too.
The club was set up by our Student Leadership Team as a result of their collaborative work on Sustainability with Dulwich College and the Southwark Schools Learning Partnership (SSLP). Click here for more information.
The club is led by Ms Coulibaly, a passionate chef and educator who is committed to teaching students about the importance of sustainable food practices. In the club's first week, students learned about topics such as:
- How to choose sustainable ingredients
- How to reduce food waste
- How to cook with energy-efficient appliances
In addition to learning about sustainable cooking practices, students have also had the opportunity to practise their cooking skills. In their first week they made a tuna pasta bake, using sustainably sourced tuna.
The club has been a hit with students, who have enjoyed learning about sustainable cooking and practising their cooking skills. The club's success is a testament to the need for education about sustainable cooking practices in schools. By teaching students about sustainable cooking, we can help them to make healthier choices for themselves and the planet.
"I've really enjoyed learning how to cook with different ingredients," said Peter, Year 8. "I've tried some new things that I never would have tried before, and I've found that I really like them."
