Public Speaking Workshop - Pictures
At the end of June, some of our Year 10 students were invited to attend a workshop run by The Speaker's Trust, an excellent organisation which aims to unlock the potential of young people by building their confidence and improving their ability to express themselves verbally.
Their vision is that every young person is able to speak confidently and be heard. At HBAED, we aim to increase the visibility of oracy in our curriculum and make sure boys have the chance to speak and listen beyond the classroom too.
The boys were delighted to have been selected and participated with real enthusiasm, showing respect for one another and encouraging their ambition to succed in their upcoming speaking and listening assessment. Both sessions were excellent and provided the students with what is needed to become confident speakers who are able to express thoughtful opinions.
Strengthening oracy skills enables students to have confidence in their perspectives and viewpoints, which also enhance transactional writing, a key element of our curriculum at Key Stage Four.
