HBAED Lifts Business Enterprise Trophy
The HBAED Enterprise Club competed at the Harris Business Enterprise Challenge on 4th July 2023, hosted at Harris Academy Bermondsey.
Our Year 7 team consisted of Isaiah, Jamail, Seydo, Kwabena and Oliver, who found themselves competing against teams from seven other schools, most of whom were in Year 10!
Our students have been working hard on their business idea since January and finally they had the chance to showcase their new business idea, Rype (The New Hype) - a sustainable healthy drink - in front of a panel of very successful business men and women.
Their pitch was ten minutes long, led by our CEO Oliver. “Be confident and passionate and look at the audience not at the presentation, was the last advice I heard before I began," says Oliver.
"In the final we were in awe as the other dazzling presentations flew past our gazing eyes, their meticulous planning clear," added Oliver. "There were even samples! And the judges asked tough questions, ones that would surely befuddle us, being far younger."
Seydo got a grilling from the judges but all five boys showed resilience, teamwork, risk taking, passion and confidence.
And at the end the judges announced that HBAED was victorious and would be taking home the Harris Business Enterprise Challenge trophy, along with a £50 Amazon voucher for each team member!
"We beamed and bathed in our glory," said Oliver. "We had tirelessly worked towards this, in Enterprise Club and at home, and we’d won!" Read Oliver's full account of the day.
