Gardening Club Gets Growing Over the Summer
HBAED Gardening Club got set up for their summer growing this term after we were very excited to have been awarded a grant from School Food Matters.
The grant helped us to set up and fill raised beds giving the gardening club a more permanent home and giving our students a more sustainable growing space which we can re-use each year.
The gardening club filled our raised beds with plants including tomato, pepper, courgette and aubergine plants and Mr Hodgson has irrigated them for the summer holidays to keep everything thriving. We had to add some rather fetching pink netting to stop the foxes digging and now we’re really looking forward to the harvest in Autumn term.
I encourage any new students joining HBAED next year that gardening club is a great, welcoming group of students and an excellent extra-curricular opportunity to join in with.
