Historic England Teach Students about Heritage
Historic England delivered a talk to all year 10 Harris Federation Most Able students on English heritage yesterday, at Harris Bermondsey.
Students were able to learn about the process of designating heritage and the various Historic England professionals and officials involved in the process.
The listings ranged from prehistoric hill forts and medieval castles to the old M. Manze Eel & Pie shop in Peckham (pictured below).
Students learnt of the buildings and sites close to each Harris Academy that have been listed by Historic England and also became familiar with some of the most beautiful examples of London architecture.
The lecture formed the foundation for a Most Able Year 10 project this year that will give students the opportunity to further examine the realms of English Heritage and visit some of the sites they were introduced to at yesterday’s talk.
The students are looking forward to beginning their projects for the 2015-2016 academic year.
