Harris Boys Fly Cessna 152 Areoplane With 'Fantasy Wings'
Each academic year we work with Fantasy Wings to enable three students to undertake a ten-month programme learning more about the airline industry and how to become a pilot.
As part of the programme, the top 5% of students are selected to have the opportunity to experience flying lessons. This year has been a roaring success, with Anishan and Adam both having the opportunity to fly a Cessna 152, an experience they will never forget!
"The moment I joined Fantasy Wings, I knew that I would be able to broaden my knowledge of the aviation world and get to know other people who were just like me," said Anishan (pictured above).
"Your decision to include me in this journey has allowed me to embark on the magical wonders of the aviation community! Your guidance and support throughout this journey has been a beacon of inspiration and I am very grateful to the wonderful impact it has on my life!"
Adam (pictured below) added: "Through this programme I have been able to meet people in the industry from different sectors including pilots from British Airways, Easyjet and Virgin Atlantic, and also great engineers. I had to complete an exam and have been awarded a trial flying lesson, and also full sponsorship for a private pilot licence covering 45 hours' of training, plus examination cost. During these ten months I have really enjoyed the opportunities that have been open to me."
Fantasy Wings is a pioneering course which brings together pilots from leading airlines, aviation professionals and flight training organisations to help launch BAME people and women into the aviation industry. We wish both boys all the best in their pursuit of becoming pilots!
