HBAED Celebrates World Book Day With Fun and Surprises
HBAED celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 7th March - a global celebration of books and reading created by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) in 1995.
World Book Day is an annual charity event in the United Kingdom and Ireland on the first Thursday of March. The purpose is to promote reading and the love of books among children.
At HBAED, we created a guess-the-book competition; students got to keep the books they guessed correctly, were given the winning book, and received two book tokens. Students guessed around one hundred books correctly and won the book, £1 book tokens and bookmarks.
As part of World Book Day celebrations, every child in full-time education in the UK and the Republic of Ireland receives a £1 voucher to exchange for a book of their choice. World Book Day was first celebrated in the UK in 1998 and has since become a popular and widely recognised event nationwide.
