Goals Galore for our Year 9 Footballers
The Year 9 football team started their campaign with two wins, one in the national cup and one in the London cup. Read below to find out how these games unfolded.
The first match against Marathon Science School at KCSG got off to a quick start, with a goal scored inside 13 seconds from Abdul S. This was the match that he showed how much has developed since joining Leyton Orient's academy. He controlled the midfield with his dynamic partner Zain.
During this match there was a debut for Milos who marked it with two well taken goals. Other notable mentions must go to Nathan and Jahmai who both secured hattricks for themselves. The match finished 13-0 and with so many goal scorers, it really was a contender for match of the season already!
For their second game within three days, the boys travelled over Tower Bridge with Mr Edwards and Mr Cassells full of optimism. The boys were met by a loud and potentially intimidating atmosphere, but with wise heads on young shoulders they quickly settled into the match.
With the physicality levels much higher compared to the previous game, the Year 9s knew that they would have to be much braver to progress into round two of the London cup. Goals again from Abdul S and a screamer from Archie that had Mr Cassells jumping around in glee on the touchline ensured that the boys returned south of the river with a 2-1 victory in the bag.
