Baroness Floella Benjamin Visits HBAED

Baroness Floella Benjamin visited Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich to record for the BBC Today Programme on Radio 4.

Baroness Benjamin (pictured centre with Principal Chris Brett and History teacher Miss Koloko) is a local resident and iconic to many of a certain generation for her appearances on Play School, Play House and Jamboree. While at the school she met with students and parents to discuss the challenges faced by young people growing up in modern society. 

Floella

Baroness Benjamin's experiences form part of the History curriculum at the Academy, with the students specifically studying her story of migration to the UK and the challenges she and her family faced. Miss Koloko, who teaches the scheme of work, met with Baroness Benjamin and talked her through the brilliant work that students do in our History curriculum. 

We were very proud of Joseph, Arthur, Jacob and Sam, the students to sat and talked to her and we were also very grateful to the parents who also contributed so much to the discussion.
