Record-Breaking Results Confirmed for HBAED
The Department for Education has now published the long-awaited GCSE results for all secondary schools in England.
I am delighted to say Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich has a confirmed Progress 8 score of a remarkable +0.98! This means we are in the Top 2% of all schools nationally.
How did we do against other schools?
- We were the SECOND best non-selective boys school in England!
- We were the THIRD best school in Southwark
- We were the THIRD best Academy out of the Harris Federation's 28 secondary schools
- We were the TWENTY FIRST best boys school in England
- We were the EIGHTY SIXTH best school in England
Top 5% for disadvantaged students
In addition to the overall Progress 8 score, I am also incredibly proud of the progress of our disadvantaged students, who achieved a Progress 8 score of +0.67. This means we are in the Top 5% of all schools nationally for our disadvantaged students.
I personally think this tells the story of a school. The national picture shows that it is easier to get students from well-off backgrounds to achieve better outcomes. The real test is what you can do with students who nationally fall well below their peers. This is the result I am most proud of, because this is why so many of us got into education in the first place.
Wonderful team at the Academy
I want to take this one final opportunity to celebrate the success of our brilliant students last year. One more huge THANK YOU to every single member of staff at the Academy; everyone contributed to these outcomes and the success of the boys. We have a wonderful team here at the Academy, one that is the envy of many schools across the Harris Federation and beyond.

I now can't wait to see what we can achieve with our talented and exciting Year 11 cohort this year!
Thank you.
