Harris Boys’ Academy 6–2 City of London Academy

Match report written by Zaid

Harris Boys’ Academy delivered a dominant performance at City of London Academy’s ground, securing a 6–2 victory in a match filled with standout moments and relentless energy.

The game began with Harris asserting early control, as Casper opened the scoring with two clinical goals, capitalising on defensive lapses. His sharp finishing set the tone, and the momentum shifted further when Bethel entered as a substitute and scored within two minutes of his introduction, showcasing his immediate impact.

The defensive trio of Zaid, Omar, and Abdulahi anchored the backline, neutralising City’s attacks and allowing Harris to build from the back. Ibrahim also left his opponent in the dust with a crucial defensive intervention, showcasing his pace and agility.

Midway through the first half, Joshua stole the spotlight with a thunderous strike from the edge of the box, leaving the goalkeeper helpless as the ball rocketed into the top corner. Harris continued to press, and Hector added a fifth goal with a composed finish after a series of intricate touches in the box.

Joakim patrolled the midfield with authority, making key tackles and transforming defensive recoveries into dangerous attacks, disrupting City’s build-up phases and fuelling Harris’ momentum. Despite a close freekick from Ibrahim that whistled over the bar, Harris carried their momentum into halftime with a commanding 5–0 lead.

Faizal showcased exceptional dribbling throughout the game, notably executing a flip flap move that left a defender on the ground, highlighting his technical skill and creativity. Joel also held down the midfield, linking play effectively and maintaining Harris’ rhythm

The second half saw Harris maintain their intensity, with Casper completing his hat-trick early on, sparking celebrations in front of City’s fans. City’s hopes of a comeback were dampened when they missed a penalty, firing the ball high and wide.

Adam and Akeem terrorised City’s defence with relentless wing play, beating their markers repeatedly and stretching the opposition. Midway through the first half, Casper executed a signature Ozil scoop over a defender, leaving him dazzled as the ball arced into the space. Joakim remained pivotal in midfield, combining tenacity with composure to maintain possession and exploit gaps. However, City capitalised on a misplaced pass by Omar to pull one back (6–1), and a late freekick squeezed past the goalkeeper to make it 6–2.

Despite City’s late efforts, Harris’ defence (led by Zaid, Omar, and the tireless Joshua in midfield) held firm. Hamed tested City’s goalkeeper with close-range shots, while Joel and Faizal nearly combined for another goal, only for it to be ruled offside. The final minutes saw City push for more, but Harris’ defensive resilience ensured the scoreline remained unchanged.

Harris Boys’ Academy’s victory highlighted their tactical discipline, clinical finishing, and defensive grit. Despite City’s late consolation goals, Harris’ confidence and teamwork shone through, with Casper’s hat-trick and Bethel’s substitution proving pivotal. The defensive trio of Zaid, Omar, and Joshua ensured stability, while Adam and Akeem’s wing play added width and creativity.

The match showcased Harris’ ability to maintain momentum and adapt under pressure, cementing their reputation as a formidable side. A special thank you to Mr. Chan for his exceptional coaching and unwavering support throughout the game.
