Inner London Cup - HBAED 5 Chestnut Grove 3
The year 8 football team have made it into the hat for the third round draw of the U13 Inner London Cup.
The boys battled through difficult conditions on a horrible pitch to produce a very good result.
After going a goal down in the opening few minutes the boys were under a lot of pressure from the Chestnut Grove attack and we couldn't get the ball out of our half for about 15 minutes.
Having managed to stop them from adding any more goals the breakthrough came when Andrew dribbled forward down the left, taking on two defenders before unleashing a fierce shot to equalise.
At half time Tinashe replaced Antonio in the middle and started to impose himself on the game. His no nonsense approach to getting the ball forward to the strikers paid dividends with Yahya latching on to a through ball to put the team 2-1 up.
Jesse, who was undoubtedly the biggest nuisance to Chestnut Groves defence all afternoon, set up Roney for the third goal before scoring himself to crown a fine man of the match performance playing up a year. Yahya made it 5-1 with the goal of the day, beating the wing back twice before finessing the ball into the left corner.
With very little time remaining sloppy defending allowed Chestnut Grove two score goals which proved to be little more than a consolation.
