KS3 Handball team win regional finals
After the success of our KS3 handball squad on Wednesday this week, today was the turn of the ‘oldies’ as the KS4 handball squad travelled the Bexleyheath Academy for the Handball regional finals. HBAED were in a 4-team pool including:
-
London Nautical
-
Woolwich
-
HBAED
-
Erith
HBAED had a shaky start, earning 1 point in a 4-4 draw with Erith. Our team then stepped it up a gear, as they put seven past our local rivals, Woolwich, to win 7-5. A close-fought battle with London Nautical ended 5-4 to HBAED, as Kieran S showed his power to over-ride a tall defence and finish in the top right-hand corner.
After a time-out and a team discussion at half time, HBAED then came into their own and demonstrated some outstanding athleticism as they stormed around the Bexleyheath sports hall, putting 15 past a flabbergasted Erith team, to win 15-6.
An impressive defensive display from Marco S, Ivor P and Kieran S kept us in every game. HBAED were promoted to the London finals with their win today, with our very own Bilal S taking home the prized honour of event MVP.
As always, a huge thank you again to Mr Assinder for the photography and support throughout the day.
