Football - HBAED 4 Orpington 1
On Thursday the Year 9 football team stormed through the next round of the Federation Cup beating Harris Orpington away.
Harris boys got off to a great start by dominating the midfield. From great persistence and a high pressing game we saw Idris (who stepped up from the year 8s) rifle the ball pass the Orpington keeper.
With momentum and a clear confidence boost Jerry, who was playing centre back ran up for a corner and his hard work paid off by poking the ball over the line.
2-0 up at the break and the boys looked comfortable. The main focus was to now remain strong and don’t let the performance drop. Idris and Yayha both showing their quality in the centre of the park allowed both wide players, Dario (stepping up from the Year 8) and Abdur Razzaq (who showed fantastic composure to score two) to get on the ball and run at their defenders.
The great attacking play was backed by the three centre backs in Gareth (stepping up from the Year 8s) Jerry and Rio who simply played a no nonsense game and defended almost everything.
Man of the Match: Gareth who impressed Mr Miller in a Year 8 game and was called up to represent the Year 9s. His performance was brilliant and deserves the man of the match award.
Stepping up: Abdur-Razzaq stepped up bringing the game to his defenders and coming away with two goals he worked extremely hard for.
