Rugby - HBAED 50 Peckham 0
The Under 13s rugby team got off to a cracking start in the Federation Cup last night with a resounding and comfortable win over local Harris academy side, Peckham.
Peckham turned up with a much smaller and less experienced side than our powerful pack and lightning quick backs, and this showed. Because they needed a few extra players, Peckham’s star players were our own academy boys who did all of the hard work for Peckham but were still unable to stem the tide of free scoring and strong running tries from our U13s.
All of our boys were only playing in their second game yet showed a real physicality and presence on the pitch which started from the first whistle where they were up in defence quickly recycling the ball to score an early try.
This was then the story of the game with East Dulwich camped in the opposition half with few attacks coming from Peckham. And when they did it was Rohan and Kemani from our school who did their running.
Our try scorers were Cai (3), Harry (2), Gareth (2), Murtada (1), Charles and arguably one of the highlights was hooker Jordan's mazy score holding the ball in two hands all the way to the try line from inside his own half.
The side know games will get tougher but they have bags of potential and we look forward to the next game.
