Football - Harris Merton 4 HBAED 5
The Year 10 boys continued their strong start to the season with an incredible game at Harris Merton yesterday. In the last 16 of the Harris Cup we took on last year's runners up, who fancied their chances against our boys.
HBAED came storming out, looking to prove a point. Enry hit a Ronaldo-esque free kick leaving their keeper rooted to the spot to score our opener, and Mukhtar out-muscled their centre back before crashing one off the post from 25 yards to make it two nil. From there the game turned towards Harris Merton but Ibrahim and Tyrel continued to dominate in the midfield.
Superb football
Unfortunately just before half time Harris Merton put together some superb football and drew it level at 2-2 despite some excellent goalkeeping from George.
The second half was a close encounter with Dexter Jordan and Connor keeping it tight at the back. Aziz, Aaron, Yahya and Amine were showing strength down our wings, then with two minutes to go Enry nicked one after a lovely ball threaded through by Tyrel. We had two minutes to hold on but from kick off Harris Merton carved us open and scored a wonderful goal.
Extra time
To extra time… John was the star up front, banging in from 30 yards and then again from close range, whilst Connor battled and ensured we didn’t lose. Harris Merton got one back late on but we held on to win and progress to the next round.
Man of the Match: John was incredible in extra time with two fine finishes to win us the game.
Stepping up: Connor is going from strength to strength this season and looks a real asset at the back.
