Christie's Auction House Visit for Most Able Students

ChristiesYear 9 students from HBAED and also Harris Girls' Academy East Dulwich visited the famous auction house Christie’s in South Kensington recently. 

After the initial tour, the group learned how Christie's priced contemporary and older art, based on its rarity, quality and the desire of the buyers.

The boys then handled different precious jewels and had the opportunity to investigate each stone with the correct equipment. The learned that the cut, clarity, size and colour would determine the value of each jewel. 

All of this was in preparation of the students creating and selling their own piece of art at the auction house in July.

All proceeds will be donated to charities the Federation works with. If you would like to get involved in the production of the piece please contact Mr Metcalfe or the art department.
