Excellent Teaching: Shared
Our staff work really hard to learn from each other and share outstanding examples of teaching, every week of the term.
Every teacher is supported by our own Innovation Team, a small group of teachers who have the job of making sure our lessons are as outstanding as possible. “We offer mentoring and coaching, and encourage staff to observe each other’s lessons too, so that we can take away excellent practice and use it in our own teaching,” says Natalie Davies, Innovation Leader.
Innovation newsletters
“We also produce regular innovation newsletters which cover excellent examples of teaching in relation to the teacher standards in areas such as marking, behaviour management and pupil progress.”
Every Friday, teachers can come in at 7am for a free breakfast, so that’s when Natalie hands out the newsletter or gives them to teachers when she sees them. “I think teachers feel more supported by our approach to innovation because there’s always someone they can go to and say ‘look, I feel I need help with this’ and it will be offered in a really supportive way,” she says.
