HBAED Boys Love a Maths Challenge
Boys from HBAED visited Harris Greenwich recently to compete with other students in the Harris Federation Numeracy Challege. The competition is designed to increase interest in mathematics and help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills too.
Our team of Leo, Rowland, Hari and Rizwan (pictured below) were challenged in a variety of rounds on topics such as numeracy, algebra and logic. There were also rounds on spelling (including spelling forwards and backwards!), comprehension and a quick-fire mental recall round.
“I enjoyed the competition as it allowed me to be competitive with maths," says Hari. "I also enjoyed being able to see the different Harris schools and compare which ones were the best.”
Leo said he found the competition both enjoyable and stretching. "Working with other great mathematicians in my team helped me think outside the box and bring new ideas to the table," he said. "We built upon each other’s work until we successfully completed the tasks.”
Although our boys did not make the top three we are all really proud of them for their incredible skills and how well they represented our school.
“This was indeed a fun competition that promoted teamwork and problem-solving, as well as instilling a love of learning Maths," said Maths teacher Miss Abdulaahi.
