Music Tech Club Fires Imaginations
Our music technology after-school club has been going for four years now, but yesterday was the first session for Abdulbangura and Ayushpandey, Year 8.
“I came to the club because I saw the music production room and thought it looked interesting so I asked sir if I could join,” says Abdulbangura. “We’re going to compose our own piece using keyboard and synthesiser. I rap and play saxophone and piano but this is something different.”
The club is run by freelance guitar teacher and composer Mr Pink, who shows the boys how to use the equipment. “It’s a very quick and accessible way to start making music,” says Mr Pink. “It was these boys first session today but they came in and are already getting musical ideas. I’ll show them how to record from the keyboard into the computer and then their imaginations can take off!”
Ayushpandey enjoyed his first visit to the club and is looking forward to the next one. “It’s cool how you can make music and put it together,” he said. “I’d like to compose rock music. We get to compose in music lessons too but that’s mostly for homework or assessments but music production club is different and fun.”
