Battle of Waterloo Commemoration
One lucky pupil from Year 8 was given the opportunity to attend the commemorative service for the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo with Miss Wooldridge on 18th June.
The service was very touching including written accounts from soldiers on different sides of the battle and an extract from the Duke of Wellington himself.
Amongst the congregation were 400 teachers and pupils from 200 different schools as well as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, David Cameron, Harriet Harman and Boris Johnson.
The Battle of Waterloo was a defining moment for Europe after decades of conflict and turbulence. The armies were led by iconic military giants, the Emperor Napoleon and the Duke of Wellington, who still stand prominent in our nations’ histories.
