Christie's Art Trip for Year 9
Year 9 boys went to Christie’s Education for an art history lecture this term from some of Christie’s renowned experts.
Christie’s Auction House is one of the most prestigious auction houses in the world. Sharing their new facilities with the pupils, students discovered tricks of the trade in order to analyse and evaluate artefacts. This opened up the students' eyes to value placed upon objects and different cultural experiences.
To finish, pupils were asked to depict the clues hidden in a famous piece of art, with the guidance of expect analysts. This demonstrated the techniques used in order to detect the historical relevance of a painting or piece of art and the clues left behind of the artist themselves.
This is all in preparation for the group to create and then auction off their own piece of artwork in the summer term. All proceeds will go to charity. Thank you to Christie’s Education for this fantastic opportunity.
