Employers Inspire Boys in Our Biggest Careers Event Yet
An architect, barrister, doctor, IT analyst, surveyor, charity programme director and theatre manager were among the business people who came to HBAED yesterday for our biggest careers event yet. Sectors covered by our business volunteers on the night included marketing, banking, human resources, medicine, journalism, construction, government, computing, law and the arts.
The boys chose who to meet at the event, based on their interests, and had 20 minute sessions so they could learn in-depth how people chose their careers, what's involved, the skills you need, and what people like and dislike about their jobs.
"Having this opportunity to interact with people from so many professions was invaluable for our boys," said Mr Allison, our careers lead, who organised the event. "It was a chance to develop networks and be inspired, but also learn what it's actually like to work in different careers."
With the world of work changing so fast, it's more important than ever to recognise what opportunities are out there, and how to gain the knowledge, skills and expertise that will enable you to work in different areas.
Thank you to all the business people who came along and made the event so valuable for our boys.
