Football Trials - Years 7 Versus 8 - Match Report
Yesterday evening saw the Year 7s take to the pitch for the first ever time in a friendly game against a Year 8 trialist team. The game was played at KCSG.
It started very friendly, with a couple of chances going either way before the Year 7s really got a hold of the game and started to dominate. Despite some good chances for the Year 8 team, Stanley in goal made some fine saves to stop them.
It was then the turn of the Year 7s with Casper absolutely dominating the game in the middle to break through and hit the post, then the bar five minutes later. The teams went in at 0 – 0 during half time and the competition started to up a bit as both teams knew they could win the game.
Exciting game
Whatever Mr Cooper said at half time had the Year 7s fired up when they came out. Shortly into the second half Louis capitalised on some really sloppy defending from the Tear 8s to put the Year 7 team one up.
What followed was a really exciting game. Mr May called in a few of the Year 8 first team lads to put the standard up, and despite some atrocious and ridiculous refereeing from Mr Cooper :-) who only seemed to make any decisions for the Year 7 team, the Year 8s started to dominate the game again. The Year 7s did look good on the attack with Aaron causing chaos on the counter attack.
Late winner
It was the front two of Nana and Dexter that were tearing apart the Year 7s and it wasn’t long before Nana took on nearly the whole Year 7 team and gave Dexter a tap in from two yards. 1 – 1 with five minutes to go. The Year 8 trialist team really pushed on from there. It was Idris, Nana, Dexter, Joakim and Dylan that were tearing the Year 7s apart, and it wasn’t long before Nana snatched a late winner for the Year 8 boys
In conclusion, a really good and competitive game of football. Some of the Year 8 trialist lads really stepped up here, the Year 7s will be a really good force in South London and look like a good team, and Mr Cooper needs some refereeing support (any offers?).
