Art History Project with Christie’s Education
Our pupils were invited to Christie’s Education for an art history lecture from some of Christie’s renowned experts. Christie’s Auction House is one of the most prestigious auction houses in the country and across the world.
Students discovered 'tricks of the trade' in order to analyse and evaluate artefacts. This opened up the students' eyes to the value placed upon objects and different cultural experiences.
To finish, pupils were asked to unpick the clues hidden in a famous piece of art, with the guidance of expect analysts. This demonstrated the techniques used in order to detect the historical relevance of a painting or piece of art and the clues left behind of the artist themselves.
This is all in preparation for the group to create and then auction off their own piece of artwork in the summer term. All proceeds will go to charity. Thank you to Christie’s Education for this fantastic opportunity.
