Ismael's 'Letter to the Planet' Published in Local Paper
We’re very proud of Ismael, Year 7, whose ‘letter to the planet’ has been published in Southwark News.
Ismael was taking part in a community project chronicling life during lockdown. Local photographer Akiko DuPont took pictures of local residents with heartfelt letters to the people and things they love and miss.
“This lockdown benefitted you by reducing the pollution, cleaning your waters and reducing noises," Ismael writes. “I really enjoy your fresh air coming to my house and looking at the green grass through my windows.”
Ismael said Coronavirus had led him to reflect more on its positive impact on the environment and also how his actions affected the planet.

Ismael mother, Emilie, also wrote a letter. While Ismael wrote his letter to Mother Earth, Emilie wrote to all the underdogs – people struggling with mental health problems, disabilities, bullying, and people in prison.
Well done, Ismael (and mum too!), for writing and submitting this excellent and thoughtful letter. We're very proud of you!
