Politics, Mathletes, DT, Geography - Clubs For Key Stage 3
Despite restrictions due to Covid-19, boys in Key Stage 3 are still enjoying a great range of clubs this term.
"Because opportunities outside of school are very limited at present, we feel our clubs and extra-curricular activities are more important than ever," says Ms Price. "We're delighted that boys are embracing our clubs programme and really enjoying them."
Politics Club is proving very popular, for example. Boys look at how politics affect us, and how we can make a difference in the world. The club is a safe space to discuss and debate political topics such as climate change, Brexit, racism and prejudice, as well as trying to understand the political system that we live under.
Joseph, Year 7, is a big fan of our DT club (pictured above). "The club is very enjoyable because all students that attend are kind and we have fun together," he says. "We are making our own functioning clocks using specialist equipment to prepare the materials. As there is nowhere to go at the moment, coming to school and being able to do this activity is relaxing and I feel productive."
Mathletes Club gives boys the opportunity to develop their problem-solving, logical thinking and analytical skills through Maths riddles and working with numbers? Rayyan, Year 7, is one of our Mathletes. "I enjoy the riddles that Mr Salmon sets," he says. "I am able to learn more than just in class work."
Aspiring actors can join our Page to Stage Club and have five weeks to rehearse an exciting and engaging play 'from page to stage' - using costumes to transform the characters and create a set. "I enjoy the freedom we get to act and I find it fun and enjoyable," says Sebastian, Year 7
And don't forget Geography, Dance, Table Tennis and Homework Club too. We can't do Football Club at present due to Covid-19 but we're sure this will be as popular as ever when it returns!.

In DT club, Year 7 students are learning how to use different machines. Students are moving on from using hand tools to machinery because it is effective, accurate and fast.
Students are still learning how to use hand tools because they can allow more precision. Hand tools are also lighter, quieter, safer and easier to transport.
Students will receive a machine operation license after learning how to safely use each machine (pillar drill and belt sander).

Football Club on this list is not happening at present, but the rest are, and all Year 7 boys are welcome to come along!
