Cala Llevado - Spanish Watersports Trip 2015

Daily reports on our 2015 Spanish watersports trip to Cala Llevado, from trip leader Marcus Kudliskis.

CL7.1Thursday 30 July

Today was our last day at Cala Llevado beach - In the blistering sunshine (hottest day of the week - 36oC). Everyone was given the opportunity to pick their favourite watersport activity of either sailing, kayaking, snorkelling and paddle boarding.....so that they could spend the entire morning on the Mediterranean sea sharpening up their skills!

After lunch we all headed back to camp where Acorn instructors hosted a wacky races session in the swimming pool. The day sadly ended with packing our bags, cleaning the cabins and loading the coach in preparation for the early morning departure.

........but the evening wasn't over just yet, because we held our annual awards evening followed by our very own DJ Mr McCabe turning back the years, warming up the decks and everyone danced the evening away under the stars in the open air disco (the students really struggled to keep up with Ms Mehmet's, Ms Gringeri's and Ms Richardson's dance moves!) - Check out the awards and dance videos on the links below......

What an excellent end to an amazing week; Everyone has been fantastic throughout the entire week, with no issues or concerns whatsoever. More pictures from today in the gallery at the bottom of the page.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT WE WILL BE ARRIVING AT HGAED AT 4AM ON SATURDAY MORNING (1st AUG) - ALL PARENTS/CARERS MUST COLLECT THEIR SON/DAUGHTER FROM THE ACADEMY - NO STUDENTS WILL BE DISMISSED TO MAKE THEIR OWN WAY HOME

CL6.10Wednesday 29 July

Due to a large majority student vote (37 to 2) the itinerary for Day 6 was changed! Rather than a day trip to Barcelona; students voted to visit the historical and beautiful town of Tossa de Mar.

Tossa de Mar is a typical Catalan town on the Costa Brava which has bags of atmosphere, thanks to its old town. The 'Vila Vella' is an area of cobbled streets, traditional houses, an ancient castle with a long sandy beach. Students requested free time in the morning to shop for presents and souvenirs for their families (so keep your eyes peeled for those bulging presents popping out from their suitcases!!!)

In the afternoon we chartered two glass bottom boats and headed out into the Mediterranean sea to hunt for the Cala Llevado shark!!! Some students were adamant they saw jaws! (More like sprats in my eyes!) The excursion ended with a cultural walk to the ancient castle where we took some stunning group photographs.

The students thoroughly enjoyed their excursion day to Tossa de Mar; make sure you view all the photographs from today in the gallery below.

When we arrived back to camp Mr May held another 'madness in the pool' activity session; this time hosting a water football competition.

In the evening the students took part in an 'Acorn variety game show' which included BGT, The Cube, Catchphrase and The Apprentice - Check out this video of the staff team aerobics display.

The students have been amazing; no issues or concerns whatsoever. See pictures from today in the gallery at the bottom of the page.

When we arrived back to camp (at the request of the students) another 'madness in the pool' activity session was held with our very own 'Mr Motivator' - Mr May; this time incorporating aqua aerobics, which they all throughly enjoyed!

The day ended with evening activities of archery, rock climbing and mission impossible. Everyone is having a fabulous time, no issues or concerns whatsoever. More pictures from today at the bottom of the page.

Monday 27 July

The students have had an amazing day at Lloret de Mar's Waterworld whizzing down numerous slides/flumes, jumping the waves in the pool and relaxing on rubber rings around the lazy river!

Check out the link below of the exciting slides/flumes at Waterworld: http://www.lloret-de-mar-stuff.com/water-world.php

When we arrived back to camp, everyone enjoyed another 'madness in the pool' activity session led by our very own 'Mr Motivator' - Mr May!

The day ended with an evening activity of Scavenger Hunt; where students had to race against the clock to hunt down various items on the scavenger list! Students have thoroughly enjoyed the day; no issues or concerns whatsoever.

CL3.11Sunday 26 July

The students have enjoyed an amazing day on Cala Llevado beach  taking part in sailing, kayaking, snorkelling and paddle boarding in the glorious sunshine.

Late afternoon everyone enjoyed a 'madness in the pool' activity session in the swimming pool, running through an inflatable assault course and playing water polo.

The day ended with evening activities of archery, rock climbing and mission impossible. Everyone is having a fabulous time, no issues or concerns whatsoever. Loads more pictures in the news gallery at the bottom of the page.

CL2.1Saturday 25 July

Everyone has had an amazing afternoon in Cala Llevado - the students couldn't unpack their suitcases quick enough so that they could jump into the swimming pool to cool down after a gruelling 24 hour journey!

After a 'madness in the pool' activity session we then took a stroll through the countryside arriving at Cala Llevado's private beach where we explored the surroundings before the sea activities begin tomorrow.

Calaween was the evening activity where each group had to dress up a student in the most scariest outfits and then walk through a sensory maze in pitch black, finishing off with a Calaween catwalk/showcase/dance off!

A fabulous end to the day; no issues or concerns whatsoever.
