Super-Spellers Win Podium Position
Six super-spellers participated in the penultimate round of the Harris Central Quad Spellathon earlier this month.
Year 10 students Damar, Adam, Kiyan, Samuel, Dylan and Imran took us from the bottom of the league table to a podium position!
They persevered through six gruelling rounds, going from strength to strength. Our boys dominated in the buzzer round and Adam made a fantastic last stand in the elimination round, with only two students from the Crystal Palace team holding out longer.
A fantastic crew of Year 8 students were ambassadors and helpers for the day, with Theodore coming through with emergency extra-hard spelling words to ensure a knock-out round that ended on time for our CPD session.
Credit as well to Baseer, Year 7, for truly professional photography services.
Thanks also to Sean Delaney for his organisational skills and scorekeeping talents, to Peter Butterworth and Chris Gerard for preparing the hall impeccably (and supplying buzzer batteries) and to Irene Morton for providing delicious snacks for our visitors.
There are many victories to celebrate. Not least - the boys can now spell cetaceous and apocryphal. Can you?
