Elwood, Year 7, Wins Our First Chess Tournament

The first ever HBAED chess tournament took place last week, hosted by Mr Delaney in the library and supported by Mr Powell and Mr Pugh.

Image001An intense group stage was followed by three knockout rounds. The Year 9s were shocked by the quality of the Year 7 play and were knocked out early, leaving an all Year 7 last-four. One of these semi-finals was the game of the tournament with Victor narrowly defeating Alfie to progress to the final.
