Animals, Biodiversity and Adaptation - Trip To Horniman Museum
Last week, 73 students from Year 8 were invited on a science trip to the Horniman Museum to explore the museum and its aquarium, with a focus on animals, biodiversity and adaptation.
The Horniman Museum has incredible natural history exhibitions which students enjoyed while also being encouraged to think about the way that animals are adapted to their habitats.
Students were also given a fun treasure hunt to get them to explore different parts of the museum. Finally, they were taken down to the aquarium to see fish, animals and plants in specific environments such as a mangrove swamp or a tropical reef.
Students will be studying elements of biodiversity and adaptation when they come back in September and start Year 9 in science by studying biomimicry. Students really enjoyed the trip and saw first-hand the enormous variation in the natural world.
A thank you to all staff who made the trip possible, the Horniman Museum and Gardens for hosting us and finally to the students who attended and were a credit to the Academy.
