Gardening Club Shares Its Harvest - Pictures
The Gardening Club wanted to share their harvest with our website readers! We meet on a Thursday at 3:05pm and have been growing vegetables and fruit on the balcony.
This year we have really developed our gardening by irrigating the plants and increasing the amount we grow. Students designed the irrigation system which has meant - even in the recent hot weather - our plants have flourished while using a lot less water than traditional watering methods (there’s even a timer!).
In the past few weeks, students have been taking home what they’ve grown; cucumbers, three types of courgette, chilli peppers, peas, beans and houseplants we’ve grown from cuttings. There’s also been a lot of strawberries but these don’t seem to last long enough to make it home!
Victor is particularly excited about the aubergines that will hopefully be waiting for us in September and Wayne is our resident chilli expert even choosing to eat them raw straight from the plant. It looks like we will have a bumper crop of tomatoes in September too.
Thanks to all students who’ve taken part in Gardening Club this year and expect even more growing next year.
