GCSE Results 2022 - Boys Celebrate Success
Students at Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich enjoyed some incredible results in their GCSEs this year.
Despite missing so much education through Covid-19, they have shown great resilience to battle through and perform so well. During the pandemic, numerous students suffered terrible personal heartache through the loss of loved ones, as well as the family economic hardships caused by Covid, yet they persevered.
Despite boys nationally once again being out-performed by girls, at our school the boys out-perform nearly all national measures. In the core subjects of English, Maths, Science, History and Spanish in particular, students have gained outstanding qualifications.
Particular success stories included:
- Robert - Grade 9s in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths, Physics, English Language and Geography as well as Grade 8 in Spanish. Robert achieved 100% in all three GCSE Maths papers, not dropping a single mark.
- Tommy - Grade 9s in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Physics, English, English Literature and History
- Hamza - Grade 9s in Biology, Maths, English Literature, English Language and Geography as well as Grade 8s in Chemistry, Physics and Spanish.
Ahmad, Yassin, Yasee, Abid and Xinjie celebrate their success.
"We are so proud of the achievements of all our students this year," said Head of Academy Chris Brett. "The hours of hard work they put into their subjects, both in school and through our intervention programmes, ensured they were not disadvantaged by the pandemic.
"We put on hundreds of hours of extra sessions for the students across the year. This included before school breakfast clubs, after school small group targeted intervention, and holiday schools at Christmas, Easter and Half Term. All this in addition to their normal timetabled lessons.
"I'm sure all students will join me in thanking our wonderful school staff, who have shown great dedication and professional skill to adapt their curriculum and teaching methods in line with huge changes to assessments."
