Year 8s Spend a STEM-Filled Day in Thorpe Park
Year 8 went down to Thorpe Park earlier this week for an ACS Schools event celebrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
Students were able to participate in a wide range of STEM activities and learn about various interesting ways STEM impacts our everyday life. From robots to carpentry, emergency services to novel uses for sound; Year 8s experienced a diverse range of activities showcasing the increasing impact that STEM has on our every day lives. There was even a fly-over from a chinook helicopter.
We were also in Thorpe Park so naturally had to try out some rides (purely to study forces, motion, speed and acceleration).
Year 8 were a credit to the Academy and should be very proud of how they conducted themselves. A huge thanks to all staff who facilitated the trip, ACS Schools for organising the event, Thorpe Park for hosting and all the exhibitors. The last words go to a Year 8 student.
