Harris Leave It Late In First Game Back: HBAED 4-2 Quest
Josh, Year 10, writes a superb report of our Year 10s' victory in the second round of the National Cup - those hours in journalism club paying off!
On Wednesday afternoon, in their first game back (now as Year 10s) Harris boys were ready to make their mark as the best team in London. The game started off smoothly for Harris boys with an early shots from Josh, Rayane and Aaron inches away.
Not long after that Josh heads on a loose ball into the box, it bounces around for a bit until Oliver unleashes a lethal volley giving the keeper no chance of saving it. 1-0 Harris Boys. Towards the end of the second half Harris give away a free kick on the left flank. Quest take it and after an unfortunate bounce Quest manage to head it into the back of the net.
At the start of the second half Harris seemed to lose momentum giving away to shots to Quest and not long after Quest capitalised. Now Harris had to come back but it seemed almost impossible with shots from Casper and Thomas hitting the bar.
With about two minutes to go Daouda plays a nice through ball into Oliver and he squares it into Louis who taps it in. With the score at 2-2 going into extra time Harris know they need to be careful.
Although nervous, Harris boys kept their composure waiting for the right time to play the pass in behind and it came! Aaron manages to find Oliver after some nice footwork, and he smashed it into the bottom corner.
The whole team went to celebrate, and the atmosphere was crazy. But the game wasn't over yet. Joshua manages to win possession and forces a corner. Louis, like the captain he is, demands the ball and Daouda crosses it with pinpoint accuracy for Louis to head it home. And just like that it was over, Harris were through to the third round of the National Cup, and they went through in style!
An excellent performance to return to winning ways. Well done to Ismael for a solid debut. Thank you to Mr Belcher for stepping in and driving the minibus.
