Mohammed Wins Christmas Poetry Competition
Congratulations to Mohammed in Year 9 for winning our library’s Christmas Poetry Competition.
Evoking rich, vivid imagery, the poem is a sensory delight, describing the scents, sounds and sights of Christmas. Mohammed also went to the effort of festively decorating his entry, creating a strong sense of Christmas cheer indeed!
Well done Mohammed for your efforts and we are happy to publish it for you to read and enjoy below.
Christmas Cheer
By Mohammed, Year 9
Spices scent the festive air
Cinnamon, apple and ginger too
Bottling Christmas to sell
And filling our nostrils
With season’s dreams.
As fire crackles
And trees glisten with Christmas cheer
Gifts, well wrapped lie waiting
A teasing treat.
And holly throws hues of red and green
Upon the door
As welcome visitors approach
Where mistletoe, hung overhead
Awaits our loved ones
Amidst sounds of children’s voices
With ice-nipped noses, singing with joy.
Well done to all the boys that entered this competition. Be sure to be on the lookout for many other competitions that the library will be holding soon.
