HABED 14 - Arc Greenwich 0 - Match Report By Anis, Year 8

FootballAnis, Year 8, reports on HBAED's 14-0 victory over Arc Greenwich in their South London Cup Debut.

It was a cold winter day but Harris Boys’ only worry was to get a win. Determined to get the three points, Ayomide the Year 8 team top goal scorer kicked the game off. We were in for a fantastic game of football. Three new debutants were starting today: Holiday, Caleb and Matthew.

The game kicked off and the Year 8s were playing some fast-flowing football. Shiloh received the ball in the midfield before playing the ball out-wide to Jayden. Jayden took a positive touch down the line and drove forward into the acres of space he had. A quick one-two was played between Jayden and Samir before Samir dribbled down the line. Having nowhere to go, he played the ball back to Jayden. Jayden took a touch with the outside of his foot and played a curving ball to Ibrahim who was in miles of space. Ibrahim then took a short pass then took a shot that rocketed into the top corner. Harris boys were now one nil up within five minutes of 70 to be played.

Ark Greenwich kicked off determined to get themselves back in the game. Greenwich’s number 7 dribbled forward but was immediately cut off by Harris's relentless press. Calming the play down Ebenezer played the ball back to debutant Caleb. He then played a swift pass to Anis who drove into space before playing a quick pass to Ibrahim. Ibrahim returned the pass down the line to the overlapping right back Anis. Seeing Ebenezer in space at the edge of the box Anis played a firm pass to Ebenezer who shot first time. The ball flew into the top left corner of the goal. Harris boys were now two nil up in this coveted competition. This was just two of many. The match continued this way with Harris Academy dominating the whole of the first half. By half time Harris boys were six nil up due to the relentless press and teamwork of the Year 8s. The goal scorers so far were Ibrahim with one goal, Ebenezer with three goals and Ayomide with two goals.

The second half continued with Ark Greenwich kicking off and playing some football in the midfield before playing the ball out wide. Their left winger dribbled down the line before he was quickly cut off by Anis. Anis then played the ball to the midfield and asked for the ball to be returned. After retrieving the ball, Anis drove through the acres of space he had in the right wing. Anis then crossed the ball and the ball found Ibrahim waiting back post. Ibrahim then calmly slotted the ball bottom corner.

Ark Greenwich kicked off once again and once again tried to score but to no prevail. Holi calmly collected the ball and played out wide to a composed Jayden. Jayden played the ball to Matthew who had recently come on. Matthew took on two defenders and beat them both. He then cut into the box and finessed the ball past the keeper. It was a dream come true for Matthew. He had scored on his debut. Feeling proud Matthew collected the ball and put it back on the centre. The score was now 8-0. Feeling defeated Ark Greenwich kicked off for the 9th time and tried to play a through ball to their sprinting striker. To the Year 8s amazement the ball managed to find him. The striker took a shot on his second touch. However, the Year 8 goalkeeper saved the ball without having to make any major efforts. Orobosa threw the ball to Caleb who passed to Abel, Abel then played a swift pass to Nathan who was currently playing Right Back. Nathan dribbled up the pitch and passed to Holi who took the ball on a half turn and passed to Jayden. Jayden passed the ball to Ayomide who played the ball back to Anis who was playing in the midfield. Anis then played a through ball to Samir who dribbled down the line. Samir then returned the ball to Ebenezer who took a shot that the keeper saved. The ball then went out for a corner. Anis then took the corner finding Samir on the back post. Samir then volleyed the ball past the keeper. 9-0! After 15 minutes near the end of the match, Harris boys’ Y8 team found themselves 14-0 up. The final whistle blew, and the Harris boys shook hands with all the players on the opposing team.

Debutant Holi received man of the match due to his ground-breaking performance. The goal-scorers by the end of the game were: Ayomide (4), Ebenezer (4), Samir (3), Ibrahim (2), and Matthew (1). Harris were now one stage further in the South London school's cup.
