Year 8 Football vs Walworth Ark, Report by Jacob
Jacob reports on our Year 8 football team's 3-0 victory over Walworth Ark in the National Cup.
Our first Year 8 match in the National Cup took place against a strong Walworth Art team. When we arrived, we were straight into warming up and drills. Our starting eleven huddled up and then got into positions.
Our captain, Zain, led our team from a centre-mid role. Going into the game, we knew we had to be the most physical and never shy away from a tackle. The whistle for the first half blew and we were on our way!
A quick start gave some early chances on goal and our strong defence, led by Abdul S, meant we could always be on the attack. Our first goal came soon after with a composed finish inside the box from Jahmarni.
Half time seemed to come quickly, and we came off the pitch feeling confident for a drink and a team talk. No substitutions meant we were straight back on ready for the next half.
We had another strong start but no big chances. Our first opportunity was a penalty due to a foul inside the box. A great game and some strong leadership meant that Abdul stepped up to take it. Unfortunately, a good save from their keeper denied us.
But that didn’t stop us. Minutes afterwards, a great corner from Jahmarni put Nathan in on goal who out it away for 2-0.
Play stayed in our hands as we controlled the game and chances seemed to be coming from everywhere. The breakthrough came from a 35 yard curler over the keeper from Zane.
The final whistle meant a 3-0 win for us!
Jakob was our man of the match for constantly bossing the midfield and making some incredible passes throughout the game. The day finished with a team photo and a big cheer.
