Inner London Cup - HBAED 3-0 Prendergast
Our Year 7 football team made the short journey to Prendergast Ladywell in the first round of the Inner London Cup.
The game started with both sides causing an array of problems. HBAED were playing a Barcelona style of play, with Bailey, Manel and Noah playing that tiki taka football we all love to see. However, Prendergast were causing problems of their own, but with Amari, Morka, Anyaegbu and Valentino holding down the fort, the clean sheet was upheld.
The first half was nearing an end, both teams with chances, but it was Noah who was causing their defence nightmares, who eventually broke the deadlock with a sweet strike to make it 1-0.
Half-time HBAED 1-0 Prendergast.
The second half begun with a change of shape as Pep Guardiola (aka Mr Weir) noticed that a partnership of Bailey and Noah would be unstoppable.
This was proved right as within ten minutes of the HBAED onslaught, Ambrose fired home a brilliantly worked goal to make it 2-0. But they weren’t finished yet. Through great determination, HBAED defended a brave corner for Prendergast, only for Noah to decide that the game was over, as he picked the ball up on the edge of our box, dribbled past not 1, not 2, NOT 3, but 4 players to get himself 1 vs 1 with the keeper, and from there the rest is history as he bagged his second and HBAED win 3-0.
Man of the Match was awarded to Noah, with credit to Prendergast for putting up a good fight, but it was the ‘Boys from the Rye’ who progress, with eyes set on only one thing, lifting the Inner London Cup.
