BAFTA Cinematic Adventure with Nickelodeon TV
Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich recently embarked on an extraordinary school trip that transported its students into the glitzy world of the BAFTAs
It was an experience that would leave an indelible mark on their memories, led by Assistant Principal Jamie Allison, English Curriculum Director Marc Clerkin, and PE Teacher Johnny Humphreys.
The focal point of the trip was a workshop hosted by none other than Nickelodeon TV channel, where the students delved into the intricate art of developing a movie trailer. The Nickelodeon team, experts in their field, provided invaluable insights, turning the workshop into a dynamic and engaging learning experience.
A highlight of the day was the exclusive premiere of the film Only a Child. The film, a testament to storytelling and visual prowess, left an indescribable impact on the young minds, fostering a newfound appreciation for the magic of filmmaking.
Following the screening, the students had the unique opportunity to engage in a question and answer session with the director, Simone Giampaolo. This interactive session allowed them to gain insights into the creative process, the challenges faced during production, and the inspirations behind Only a Child. The exchange was not just a dialogue between students and director but a bridge connecting the theoretical knowledge gained in classrooms to the practical world of filmmaking.
The experience at the BAFTAs will undoubtedly serve as a catalyst for future aspirations, perhaps seeding the dreams of budding directors, writers, or cinematographers within the Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich.
In retrospect, this school trip transcended the boundaries of a conventional educational outing. It was a cinematic adventure, an exploration of creativity, and a testament to the power of immersive learning experiences. The boys of Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich will carry the memories of this exceptional day, forever grateful for the opportunity to step into the limelight of the BAFTAs.
