Workshop with Local Artist and Ceramicist Marie Tricaud
Our Art Prefects took part in a workshop with local artist and ceramicist Marie Tricaud on Tuesday. Using a clay slab-building technique, the students were encouraged to think of a geometric design and construct it from clay.
It was a wonderful opportunity for the Art Prefects to gain valuable knowledge, learning new techniques which they’ll be able to use in their own work, and share with their peers. The designs were varied, with many of the boys thinking outside the box, and making vessels both sculptural and practical.
This was the first of two workshops – in January, students will fire, paint, and glaze their vessels. The boys all seemed very eager for their vessels to dry out, with many coming back during lunch to finesse their designs and asking to make more!
