Second Workshop with Ceramicist Marie Tricaud
After coming back to school in January, our Art Prefects had their second workshop with ceramicist Marie Tricaud. Read about the first workshop here.
Students fired their ceramics in the kiln and applied coloured glaze. Adding glaze gave students the opportunity to paint patterns and designs on their vessels, whether detailed or monochromatic. We experimented with colour and different painting techniques, finishing with beautiful results.
We were lucky to have Marie, an accomplished designer and ceramicist, with us. Students found it greatly beneficial to have a local artist in to work alongside them, helping them to appreciate local talent and envision how art can fit into their own lives.
These workshops have equipped the Art Prefects with a valuable, life-long skill, and have unlocked an interest in all things ceramic. Students will be able to take home their vessels and put them to use – as vases, cups, pencil-holders, or ornaments. We look forward to having our kiln regularly fired, and seeing what other creations our students will make!
