Sebastian Triumphs in Regional Final of 'Speak Out Challenge'
We are thrilled to announce that Sebastian, a student from Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich, has emerged as the winner in the Southwark Regional Final of Jack Petchey's Speak Out Challenge.
This prestigious event is the largest public speaking programme in England, managed and delivered by the Speakers Trust, the UK's leading public speaking organisation.
Sebastian's victory is a testament to the power of the programme and the potential of our students. The title of his winning speech is yet to be confirmed, but his performance was undoubtedly compelling and persuasive.
"Tonight has been brilliant! I never expected to win," says Sebastian. "It has taught me that as long as you play your cards right, you can do it." We congratulate Sebastian on his outstanding achievement and look forward to his continued success in the future.
The Jack Petchey Foundation, which supports and funds the programme, aims to amplify the voices of young people. By building confidence, developing skills, and creating platforms for young people to share their stories and ideas, the foundation empowers not only the individual participants but also their peers. The programme champions effective, positive communication for use in education, employability, and social change.
The Speak Out Challenge provides free communication skills training to Year 10 students in every state school in London and Essex. Through its workshops, the programme empowers over 30,000 young people each year.
