Year 9 Learn the History of Fine Art at Christie's
Renaissance Day saw some wonderful events this term and the year 9 Most Able evening at Christie’s was no exception.
Can you find the hidden image in this painting by Hans Holbein, called The Ambassadors? (Answer at the bottom of the page).
Christie’s Education Centre put on an event for the Harris Federation, delivering an interesting, interactive Art History lecture for the students.
Harris Boys’ East Dulwich were truly impeccable, offering insight and intellectual opinion on each artefact and artistic piece. The students learnt a great deal in preparation for the next event and the final auction at Christie’s.
The quote of the day came from Nathanial.
Christie’s senior Fine Art lecturer: “Can anyone give a valid justification for the position of the objects in this painting”
Nathanial, year 9: “Well, I believe the position of the objects to be a symbol of their shared meaning. For example the mathematics instruments show a high level of education and the globe shows that they could have been very well travelled”.
The students are now working towards creating their own piece of art, that will go on sale at an official Christie’s auction next year, in an attempt to raise money for charity.
And the hidden image you've been seeking is the skull!
