Science & Technology Project at University of Westminster
Five boys from HBAED visited the University of Westminster on 6th January 2016 for the launch of the school’s annual Year 8 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) trip, which is ran by Go4SET and funded by Network Rail.
Go4SET are aiming to get more young people involved in science and engineering by introducing this ten week project that includes the pupils working with two real engineers (pictured right) to create a train station.
The boys have ten weeks to create a model train station, based on their own design ideas and an existing station of their choice, and a report explaining the science /technology behind it. Go4SET’s project outcomes can be accredited through the British Association CREST awards at the bronze level.
On the launch day the pupils were introduced to the project, met the engineers and had several team-building exercises, including making a spaghetti tower to hold a tangerine (pictured below)!
Good luck boys!
