Football Harris Cup - HBAED 2 Harris Greenwich 1
Last night the year 10 boys played in the quarter finals of the Harris Cup against Harris Greenwich. The boys were the underdogs with Harris Greenwich hosting the Charlton academy at their school.
The first half was a close affair with both teams playing some good football. However, Michael Adebajo, Mohamed Koroma and Bilal Sessay managed to keep it tight at the back as we went in 0-0 at half time.
Some big tackles flew in during the second half and Josh Malcolm took a nasty tackle on the shin to win us a free kick. Bilal Sessay put the ball into the box and Josh Malcolm showed maturity and determination to stay focussed and win a header to put us 1-0.
This lead to all out attack from Harris Greenwich who scored a great long distance goal to leave it 1-1 at full time and heading into extra time.
We decided to go for the game pushing forward with Ahmed Mansray and Kevell Allen using their pace to scare the Greenwich back four. It was end to end stuff and looked to be heading to penalties after some good saves from Jesse O and Peter Famosa marshalling our back three.
With minutes remaining Reece Johnson picked up the ball from 25 yards out, took one touch and rifled the ball into the top corner, leaving the keeper rooted to the spot.
The boys showed real maturity and discipline towards the end of the game to secure a place in the semi finals against Harris Merton.
